 With the cold winter nights all I want to do is curl up on the sofa in front of the TV and eat comfort food. The motivation for the gym is out of the window! Also Poundland has such great deals on its comfort food that I just cannot risk indulging. You can get a pack of pepsi, diet pepsi or Pepsi Max, a box of Maltesers £1, chocolate selection box £1 or 4 for £3 and next week Poundland will have After Eight mints – just £1! Now can you see why I can’t stay away?

I have actually got into cooking more now it’s dark and wintry. I just love finding new recipes online and the TimesOnline is great for this. They often have ‘seasonal’ recipes to get you in the mood for various events. At the moment there is a butternut squash and pumpkin soup – but my favourite has to be the Steak and Kidney pudding. The masterclass on this gives you fab tips too…happy baking. Not only is it countdown to Halloween but I also can’t wait for X Factor. I am hooked! We at Poundland HQ are behind the over 25′s…even though I can’t stand Simon looking so smug.

Poundland has two new stores opening this weekend – yes TWO! These are Llanelli, Wales and Lisburn, Northern Ireland.

Are you a Corrie fan? We have got your favourite characters on board again to help us celebrate Poundland’s new store openings.

Actress Catherine Kelly who plays ‘Becky MacDonald’ will be getting the party started ay Llanelli on Saturday 31 October and Andy Whyment who plays ‘Kirk Sutherland’ will be opening the Lisburn store on Saturday 31 October. This is Poundland’s 2^nd store to open in Northern Ireland – exciting stuff!

 Have you ever been to a Poundland store opening? If not and you live near Llanelli or Lisburn , I would definitely check it out. There is a checkout challenge where you can win £50 and an in store DJ to make your Poundland experience even more exciting. The Coronation Street stars will also be handing out 50 £1 vouchers to shoppers that come through the doors. If you’re lucky you may even get the chance to have your picture taken with your favourite Corrie actors.

With the clocks going back it was so much nicer getting out of bed this morning, even though I am dreading it getting dark at 4.30pm, the nights are just going to seem so short!

People in the Poundland HQ ran the Great South Run yesterday raising money for Macmillan. There are quite a few aching legs in the office…well done team!

I know it’s only the start of the week, but if you’re thinking about doing a bit of cleaning this weekend, I just had to tell you about Poundland’s weekend offer – £1 for a litre bottle of Dettol. Its recommended retail price is normally £2.20! To add to the amazing value Poundland also has branded labels such as Vanish, Air Wick, Flash and Mr Sheen, all at…yes you’ve guessed it, £1!

 Talking about cleaning products, Waitrose has announced that is has fears that a batch of its semi-skimmed milk may be tainted with cleaning solution. Waitrose said ‘the 1.136 litre (2pt) cartons of Essential Waitrose semi-skimmed milk which was marked “Display until 01 Nov/Use By 02 Nov” have been affected’. So warning to all of you reading this and have just popped to Waitrose for milk. Just to confirm Poundland’s semi-skimmed milk has NOT been affected.

If you are a bit of a cleaning addict you probably already know about the Ask or Answer blog. If you have not already checked it out and have a burning question, I would definitely recommend having a go! I burnt one of my pans at the weekend and checked out the Ask or Answer blog to see if someone could help me out with reviving my ruined pan. I’m taking the advice of boiling vinegar and water in the pan before scrubbing it. Fingers crossed it works…
