Happy Monday! Just 39 days until Christmas and I’m getting ever so excited! Christmas is everywhere…the lights are up in town centres, shops have got decorations laid out in stores and we have all started frantically Christmas shopping. I just love listening to everyone’s views on shopping for presents and the different ways we all tackle the task. You either get the scrooge’s that wait until Christmas Eve to bag the bargains or there’s the eager beavers that started in August! Martin Lewis has a great view, I have been reading his blog post ‘Is it time to ban Christmas presents?’ and it did make me smile. A favourite part was his description of the ‘zero-sum’ game. We all do tend to give gifts to friends of a similar value because we feel we have to. To be fair, if my friends and I sat down and said ‘look let’s just not buy for each other this year’, I probably would end up better off and have less stress on my shoulders. But it’s just so nice to share presents and watch the surprise on peoples faces! re you finding that due to the recession you and your friends are putting a stop to pressies this year?ies to suit the whole family. There are smellies for Mum, chocolates for Dad, toys for the children and even treats for the pets! Poundland also has some new laptop covers – do check them out before they are all scooped up.

Maybe you could pop to Poundland instead and just treat your friends to little stocking fillers. That way we are still giving but will not end up penniless. Poundland really has got some great stocking fillers in stores this year and you can find good

Are you thinking of going away at Christmas? If you haven’t booked your flights yet then it may be worth looking somewhere other than BA! The TimesOnline has reported that staff have to vote by 14 December to decide whether to strike over the Christmas period or not. If I was going away I would stay clear of BA – better to be safe than sorry.

Finally did you see the X Factor at the weekend? I can’t believe Jamie went out! I’m going to miss the afro…

What’s your favourite part of Christmas day? Mine is Christmas morning when you wake up really early and discover what Father Christmas has left for you… I love opening my stocking (and Poundland have some great stockings that can be filled full of goodies!). Long gone are the days of the stocking full of nuts and satsumas – today’s stockings are full with sweets and toys!

Poundland has a great selection of toys which are perfect stocking fillers at the amazing price of only £1 each. They’ve got everything, from the ‘Make Doh’ set and Magic Box set for the creative kids, a 007 Die Cast Aston Martin car for the James Bond fans to a Hair and Beauty Set for the beauty queens in the making. Poundland is sure to have a toy to suit!

Did anyone see what the top 12 toys for Christmas 2009 are this year? In the list were Sylvanian Families – it looks like the old favourites are making a comeback!

Poundland HQ has some exciting news – we are launching a Coronation Street look-a-like competition to celebrate the 250th store opening in Tooting.

The store is opening on Saturday 28 November 2009 and Antony Cotton who plays Sean Tully in Corrie will be hosting a family fun day and awarding the best Corrie look-a-like.

So, we are inviting ANYONE who thinks they look like any of the Corrie characters to come down to the store opening. Anthony will be arriving at 10am and announcing the winners of the look-a-like competition at 11am.

Are you a dead ringer for Kevin Webster or Roy Cropper? Maybe you look like Fiz, Sally or evil David Platt? Whatever your look-a-like style may be, make sure you get down to the new Tooting store on Saturday 28 November to take part. Not only will you be able to make friends with Antony Cotton there are also prizes to be won! The winner will receive a TV and the two runners up will win either a cam-recorder or an ipod.

This week is a very exciting week for Poundland with four new stores opening this Saturday, 14 November!

The new stores will be popping up in Crawley, Farnborough, South Shields and Newtonards. So if you live near any of these towns make sure you head down to Poundland for the chance to win £50 of Poundland vouchers and to join in all the fun.

And a Poundland store wouldn’t be complete without the help of a celebrity to cut the ribbon…

The Corrie stars will be out in force opening 3 of the new stores… Auntie Pam (Kate Anthony) will be opening the Crawley store, Fizz (Jennie McAlpine) will be at the South Shields store and Sean Tully (Anthony Cotton) will be on hand to join in with the fun at the Newtownards store. Not forgetting Shameless and Celebrity Big Brother star Tina Malone, who will be opening the Farnborough store.

Each celebrity will be kicking off the party at 10am, giving out 50 £1 vouchers and the fun will continue with an in-store DJ and giveaways throughout the day. Make sure you get there early to grab your free voucher… Poundland have everything you need for Christmas – from table decorations to stocking fillers in store that you can redeem your voucher on, or buy for the bargain price of £1!

Talking of celebrities, ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ starts this weekend – I wonder who will be entering the jungle?! They might need to grab a few necessities from Poundland and sneak them into their suitcase before they go… if they don’t win their bush tucker trials, they are going to be starving!

Is it me or as it gets colder do you crave chocolate too?

All I want to do is get warm with a lovely festive mug of tea and a few squares of chocolate! That’s just what I need to pick me up in the afternoon!

For a bargain price of £1, you can enjoy a tasty bar of Cadbury’s Caramel or Dairy Milk. So you can either eat those few squares or get a little carried away and eat the whole bar. Hmm.. I think I can hear the chocolate calling me…

The people at goodtoknow.co.uk tell us that Chocolate (in moderation) is good for you – in fact it can help you live longer, so there’s no need to feel guilty when you indulge.

The Cadbury’s chocolate bars are also great stocking fillers – so why not grab these scrumptious bargains while you can and keep them hidden away ready for 25th December… that’s if your will power allows!
