Welcome to a brand new week at Poundland HQ.  Hope you all had a fantastic weekend and of course spoilt your Mum’s yesterday.  All our Mum’s deserve a treat once in a while don’t they!   Lets start the week off with some exciting store opening news for you – we have a brand new store opening in the Broadway Centre, Ealing on Thursday 18th March.  To celebrate there will be a family fun day on Saturday 20th March. Make sure you come down and join in the fun!

We will have a DJ there from 9am – 3pm and Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly (Becki McDonald) will be there to officially open the store at 10.00am on Saturday 20th March.  She will be there until 1.00pm signing autographs, having pictures taken and giving away 50 x £1 Poundland vouchers.  We also have £50 of Poundland vouchers to be won in checkout challenge from 9.30am.  You have to be at the till for the chance to win! 

We also have loads of freebies to giveaway including 500 packs of Kodak AA batteries!  Can you think of a better way to spend y9our Saturday!!

More exciting new Poundland stores opening this week – you can now find us in Newquay and Twickenham!  Our new store in Newquay will be opening on Thursday 11th March and to celebrate there will be a family fun day on Saturday 13th March.

I think the whole country has been affected by the frosty weather these past few days. I had to scrape the ice off my car this morning, luckily i’d already popped to my local Poundland store a couple of weeks ago and picked up some de-icer. Make sure you go to your local store and get all your winter car care, 600ml de-icer, anti-freeze, and Thinsulate ice-scraper – all just £1 each!

 What car? Has a fantastic article for top tips on looking after your car in the winter. One thing I didn’t know was that “Even in winter you should run your air-conditioning for at least an hour a week. This allows the coolant in the system to lubricate all of the moving parts and prevents the build-up of elements which can corrode pipework”…air-conditioning on? Brrr…

You need to keep yourself warm too, at Poundland there is a fantastic range of winter clothing, perfect for these cold days. There are winter hats, soft touch scarfs, we even have ear muffs, I used to love those when I was young! …and don’t forget your mens and ladies thermal socks! £1 each!

Lastly I just had to comment on the ‘slanket’, did anyone see it in the news today? It’s a blanket with sleeves that is ideal for watching the telly – there was some fab stories on this today and it did make me chuckle! Anyone got a slanket on their Christmas list?

There are now over 250 Poundland stores across the UK, including 8 stores in Northern Ireland and more and more people are discovering the hundreds of top brands we have for just £1! One of t hose people is Martin Lewis, the Money Saving Expert from GMTV! He has been heading into our store and is really impressed with all our genuine bargains!  Take a look at his blog to see what he said about his recent visit.  I’m sure now he has discovered Poundland he’ll be in the store all of the time, so keep your eyes peeled for him!

Martin Lewis isn’t the only celebrity you’ll find in Poundland, you’ll regularly see the Coronation Stars opening our new stores.   Anthony Cotton who plays Sean and Jenny McAlpine who plays Fiz have opened  lots of stores this year and  have a great time meeting all the customers and playing the checkout challenge game. Andy Whyment who plays Kirk and Katherine Kelly who plays Becky are also regular celebs you’ll see opening our stores, so look out on our website for a store opening near you for your chance to meet a Corrie Star! I can’t believe its Christmas day next week! I’m not ready at all and haven’t got all my presents yet. So I’ll be popping into my local Poundland store as there are so many great gift ideas. Take a look on our website for your last minute gifts!

I also need to get my tableware and decorations for Christmas day, we have really nice table runners and charger plates that I think I’ll be buying, the table will look beautiful!
