We had a fantastic Christmas here at Poundland and we’ve just released our latest figures which saw a 4.4 rise in like-for-like sales.

Customers loved our Christmas products and do you know we sold over 3 million Christmas Crackers, 1.1 million Christmas Cards, 2237 miles of tinsel and 10,500 miles of wrapping paper!!! That’s amazing!

We’ve have launched 2 other great events today in store…..firstly Gardening !!!

As soon as all this snow clears it’s time to start tidying up your garden and get planting. Head to our seasonal section and find all your essentials like garden gloves, hand tools and refuse sacks – all £1 each! Pick up your bulbs and perennials  or why not start growing your own fruit and veg this year, we have great vegetable starter kits for just £1! I think I might have a go at doing this, sounds fun! We have also launched Valentines,  you can pick up some fabulous gifts for your secret crush!  There are some really cute cuddly toys, the Kiss Me Devil and the Kiss me Gorilla are fab, there are some Valentines boxer shorts and the Furry Love Cuffs are fun! Who will be your Valentine???

I think the whole country has been affected by the frosty weather these past few days. I had to scrape the ice off my car this morning, luckily i’d already popped to my local Poundland store a couple of weeks ago and picked up some de-icer. Make sure you go to your local store and get all your winter car care, 600ml de-icer, anti-freeze, and Thinsulate ice-scraper – all just £1 each!

 What car? Has a fantastic article for top tips on looking after your car in the winter. One thing I didn’t know was that “Even in winter you should run your air-conditioning for at least an hour a week. This allows the coolant in the system to lubricate all of the moving parts and prevents the build-up of elements which can corrode pipework”…air-conditioning on? Brrr…

You need to keep yourself warm too, at Poundland there is a fantastic range of winter clothing, perfect for these cold days. There are winter hats, soft touch scarfs, we even have ear muffs, I used to love those when I was young! …and don’t forget your mens and ladies thermal socks! £1 each!

Lastly I just had to comment on the ‘slanket’, did anyone see it in the news today? It’s a blanket with sleeves that is ideal for watching the telly – there was some fab stories on this today and it did make me chuckle! Anyone got a slanket on their Christmas list?
